Glass is infinitely recyclable, when it's not broken.
These traders are 100% committed to source separating their glass waste and increasing glass recycling rates in Australia.
HOW? SAY NO TO CO-MINGLED
Recycling contamination – where different materials are mixed in the collection and sorting process, degrading their quality – has long been a problem in comingled recycling with glass being the main culprit. Glass can easily shatter during collection and contaminate other valuable materials such as paper and cardboard, reducing their quality and ability to be recycled.
Currently, 85% is made back into glass containers. Not terrible, but we can do better!
GETTING GLASS TO CIRCULARITY
By separating glass from the comingled recycling bin, larger quantities of paper, cardboard and plastic will be recycled into higher quality materials. Not only that, circular design is on the rise, where broken glass can be (re)made into upcycled products.
We're looking for any circular suppliers who work with recycled glass - broken, coloured, or otherwise.
